My vat of perspective is: "Just as I am".

When we get that,

and others get that,

we will have found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

I think you are very hard on yourself. We are all imperfect and trying to be otherwise.I am a little short on that vat of perspective myself but am ever hopeful that someday I will get it.I think you are pretty terrific !

April Fool's Day Pranks

Oh what joy this day brings. Just thinking about pranks thrills me to tears! I decided to make up a tasty treat for my family along with a few other low-key pranks. Enjoy! April Fool's Day Chocolate Chip Cookies: She wasn't very happy with me when I told her what they were ... she was too keen on these - knew something wasn't quite right and never actually tried one. Did you figure it out?  These are baked taters and black beans!!! Simply delicious if you're expecting garlic, salt, sour cream, and potatoes!  Here's how: 1. Whip up your favorite mashed potato recipe (I used 3 medium potatoes) 2. Mix in a few drops of yellow food coloring (3 drops was enough for this batch) 3. Stir in 1/2 can rinsed black beans 4. Then drop on a cookie sheet in a 350* oven for 30-45 minutes ... until golden on the top. These will taste delicious with a little salsa at dinner time!  By the way: I did make REAL cookies so as not to comp

wii are fat and wii need a change

For Thom's 40th birthday/Christmas present we purchased a wii. I was reluctant but it was THE only thing he'd been asking for since June of '07. Whenever we received gift cards for our wedding he asked (begged!) for a wii. I politely denied his request and continued meandering through the housewares section. Since he was still asking for one a year and a half later, I figured he was serious about wanting the wii and this wasn't some toy helicopter that he'd play with for a few weeks and then forget about. I have to say I've enjoyed the wii ... even renewed my love of Tetris. It's an expensive toy though. I'm not a fan of credit cards and spending money we don't have, but we made a purchase last Monday that we're putting to good use. The wii Fit. For two fatties who sit on the couch and watch tv every night this has been a great tool for us! This past week has been so different. It's nice to come home, have fun, be together, and work

Stirring a little.

Like a bottle of italian dressing some spices that settled to the bottom have been stirred up. Shaken. Makes for a better flavor but all that stuff at the bottom was calm and complacent. An easy way to exist. But my italian dressing doesn't taste good right now: :After saying to my husband, "Not in public!" he immediately replied that he doesn't like living two different lives and would rather just BE. :A dear friend being honest and brave enough to tell me I've become too comfortable in solitude and distance from the people I love. :Realizing I am much more like my mother than I would like. In weight, in reactions, in photos, in struggles. :Concluding that if I don't want to be like my mother I should probably do things differently than she did. *Put down the donut, Jacqui!* :Being very aware of how quickly I go from loving to bitchy. :Acknowledging that my perfectionist tendencies stop me from working on projects. :Deciding that the kitchen floor doesn
